JobGet.Net Launches!

The JobGet.Net Career Portal is now online. Here you will find a constant source of information and guidance about careers, jobs, employment, resumes and anything else dedicated to helping us survive these tough economic and job-challenging times. JobGet.Net promises an interesting overview of feature articles from various sources as well as original articles, some written by myself and some written by guest contributors, which focus on jobs, employment, career and resume advice. There is also a section offering free resume templates to help you land that next interview. We'll also fire up a forum as well, so we can all bitch and moan about the job market...maybe even help each other out with tips and suggestions.

What is JobGet.Net?
JobGet.Net is your career portal dedicated to providing guidance in:

  • Careers, career building, career advancement
  • Jobs
  • Employment
  • Free Resume Templates
  • Anything else pertaining to the above areas

Why are you doing this?
I have been providing family and friends with career, employment, job and resume advice for some time. While helping family and friends is fine, I have always preferred to affect the "big picture". Family and friends, obviously, is a narrow focus and not the "big picture". Also, I'm tired of damaging advice being provided by so-called "experts" via radio, newspaper and Internet. For many of them, it is their PAID job to come up with new stories/articles so some of their advice is suspect due to a self-serving conflict of interest. So given the current employment, career and job turmoil, I felt this was the perfect time to launch this web site so that I may help a larger audience.

Very noble, what's the catch?
No catch...we are donating the resources for this web site. That said, while we are happy to donate time, effort, knowledge and experience free of charge, domain and hosting services do cost money. With this in mind, you will see pertinent advertisements on this site so that I may at least cover the cost of the domain and hosting services. In return, we ask that you click on our sponsors if you feel you have use for their product. If not, no big deal, bottom line...this site will cost you nothing!

Fine so far, but who the hell are you?
Good question! I am an IT Manager for a Fortune 100 company managing IT Services for a Division comprised of 8,000 employees with a contract value of $2 billion. I have been in the workforce for many years and have been involved with hiring, firing, layoffs, failures and success. I started my IT career in tech support, like many IT professionals, and have moved up the ladder to my current position. During my career I have been in "industry", consulting, front-line projects and now in corporate. I have been laid-off myself...so I know how it feels. I have seen others laid-off and know firsthand how damaging it can be to some people while others take it in stride. My goal is to provide helpful guidance during this difficult time.
